Arive at airport. Drive to Kitulgala, afternoon birding around Kitulgala village. Kitulgala- crossing the beautiful Kelani River takes us to high density rain forest. The village is surrounded by forest attracting many species of birds. The river itself is famous for white water rafting. After breakfast drive to Uda Walawe National Park. Afternoon safari in Uda Walawe National Park. Uda Walawe- situated in dry zone comprising a diversity of habitats including scrub jungles, grasslands, water reservoirs and riverine habitats. The best park in the country for viewing herds of wild elephants at close range. Highlights- Sri Lanka Green Pigeon (E), Orange Breasted Green pigeon, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Plum Headed Parakeet, Indian Pitta (M), Sirkeer Malkoha, Changeable Hawk Eagle, Crested Serpent eagle, WhitevBellied Sea Eagle, Grey Headed Fish Eagle. After breakfast drive to Bundala National Park. Afternoon birding around Thissamaharama. Bundala Ramsar Wetland- borders the sea and comprises of scrub jungle, salt pans. A very good area to watch water birds and migrant waders during the northern winter. Early morning leave for full day birding and mammals Jeep safari in Yala National Park. Yala National Park- situated in dry zone comprising a diversity of habitats including scrub jungles, water reservoirs, brackish lagoons, and riverine habitats. The best park in the country to see Leopards and Sloth Bear. Highlights- Malabar Pied Hornbill, Ble Faced Malkoha, Brahiminy Mynah (M), Rosy Starling (M), Sirkeer Malkoha, Black Necked, Painted, Woolly Necked and Adjutant Storks. Mammals- Elephant, Leopard, Sloth Bear, Spotted Deer, Sambar, Wild Boar, Grey Langur, Marsh & Mugger crocodiles Overnight at Tissamaharama.
After breakfast drive to Nuwara Eliya. Afternoon birding visit to Victoria Park. Victoria Park- small park situated in centre of Nuwara Eliya. Highlights- Kashmir Flycatcher, Pied Thrush, Indian Pitta, Indian Blue Robin, Yellow Eared Bulbul, Sri Lanka White Eye, Dull Blue flycatcher. Overnight at Nuwara eliya.
Early morning drive to Horton Plains National Park. Afternoon at leisure. Horton Plains- a montane and cloud forest area.
