City Tour of Colombo: Colombo like many capital cities in developing countries is fast changing its face. Almost overnight, skyscrapers arise from where old buildings once stood. Yet, in some parts, the old-world charm is retained. For example, there is a 100-year-old clock tower and several British built colonial buildings.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage
Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants located at Pinnawala village, 13 km (8.1 miles) northwest of Kegalle town in Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. Pinnawela is notable for having the largest herd of captive elephants in the world. In 2015, there were 88 elephants, including 37 males and 51 females from 3 generations, living in Pinnawala

Kandy Kumbal Perahera
The Esala Perahera in Kandy is one of the oldest and grandest of all Buddhist festivals in Sri Lanka, featuring dancers, jugglers, musicians, fire-breathers, and lavishly decorated elephants. This is held in Esala (July or August) which is the month that is believed to commemorate the first teaching given by the Buddha after he attained enlightenment. The Kandy Esala Perahera lasts for ten days while various festivities can be witnessed right throughout. The Sinhalese term ‘Perahera’ means a parade of musicians, dancers, singers, acrobats and various other performers accompanied by a large number of caparisoned Tuskers and Elephants parading the streets in celebration of a religious event.

Kandy was the last capital of Sinhala Kings. The valley of Kandy is surrounded by magnificent hills which made it as the last bastion. Today Kandy offers its visitors rich collection of art and craft and historical buildings. It includes a collection of ancient temples buildings, handicrafts, souvenirs, bazaar and gem museum.

A marine sanctuary abundant with rare corals and tropical fish, the coast of Hikkaduwa is an oceanic delight! The underwater world of colorful corals and beautiful shoals of fish can be explored both by snorkelling or you can take a ride on a glass bottom boat and visit the famous off shore coral gardens. This vivacious, yet laid-back town is known for its night life and many beach festivals held throughout the year.

Dutch Fort: Portuguese built the first fort to withstand attack from the Sri Lankan kingdoms to the north. The Dutch entrance to the fort with it VOC with 1669 carved in the inner archway is still in use.
Dutch Museum: For a peep into life in the days of the Dutch East India Company, look into this small museum at 31 Leynbaan Street.
Visit a Mask Factory and a Moonstone mine.
The town of Ambalangoda along the south coast road is the home of devil dancing and mask making. Visit mask museum & factory. Also visits Moonstone mine. Moonstones are beautiful stones which are white and give a blue shimmer when watched from an angle.
